Chiropody & Podiatry

We are Podiatrists and Chiropodists and routine appointments focus on conditions on the surface of your foot like:-

  • Hard skin
  • Corns
  • Callus
  • Verrucae
  • Nail cutting
  • Simple in-growing toenails
  • Nail Reconstruction

Young feet, old feet, working feet and party feet can all develop chiropody problems.

Biomechanical assessments

Here we look at the link between the foot function and pain. Common biomechanical problems include:-

  • metatarsalgia (pain in the ball of the foot)
  • planter fasciitis
  • Achilles tendonitis
  • Knee & lower back pain
  • Fallen arches
These conditions can benefit from shoe inserts called orthotics.

In-growing toenails
Often managed with routine chiropody techniques, they are sometimes painful enough to require use of local anesthetic prior to treatment. Chronic problems and deformed nails can be permanently altered by removing part or all of the nail and preventing re-growth. This is a cosmetic procedure and involves a local anaesthetic. The technique has over a 90% success rate in preventing future pain.

Diabetes, rheumatoid and high-risk feet
Diabetes and rheumatic conditions affect everyone differently, but in general, the blood and nerve supply to the feet is changed and it affects the body's ability to heal wounds. Foot assessment, treatment and advice is guided according to the severity of the condition in each individual patient. Diabetic & Rheumatoid patients with foot pain or wounds are offered urgent appointments, so please let us know of your condition when booking an appointment.
