Fully alive, fully aware."

breathe in,
breathe out.
Feel the rhythm of your breath,
the song of life,
pulsating as you breathe
in and out,
in and out." Patanjali

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure...

Life is about creating balance. And Yoga helps to create self-awareness. The more you practice yoga the more you become aware of that need for internal harmony. This internal harmony begins to open up once again just like the petals of a Lotus flower. Our true peaceful, loving & contented nature is restored.

The Ashtanga yoga is unique as it involves the use of the Ujjayi breath - Victorious breath. This type of breath may sound a little strange at first when you first try it. It is likened to the sound of the wind in the trees or for those who may have seen Star Wars, Darth Vader. So not only does the sound have a relaxing meditative effect on your being but physiologically it has an effect on calming your nervous system. This is because of the throat position during the breath.
Eventually you will become aware of your breath during asana practise and every moment becomes a meditation.
"Master Asana, be aware of your breath, your lungs as you fill them, breathing deeply, sustaining your breath, easily drink in this life force." Patanjali
Another unique aspect of Ashtanga Yoga is the flow of asanas or movements with the breath. Between each asana there is an "energetic-linking-movement" called Vinyasa. This is where Ashtanga Yoga can almost feel like a `dance` with dynamic flowing movements.
Susan came across yoga many years ago but only until she discovered Ashtanga yoga did she notice the powerful effects on her wellbeing. She suffered from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and had to find new paths to help gain back her health. She follows a raw food diet which has helped her heaps and bounds (click here for more information). But practicing Astanga yoga on a regular basis (Mysore practice with Joey Miles) has been one of the most rewarding and wonder-full journeys, helping her to build up her whole mind/body/spirit strength.
Susan has been practicing Vipassana meditation for over 16 years at various Buddhist centres in the Uk and has found this to be really beneficial to her wellbeing too.

Contentment the greatest wealth,
Faithfullness the best relationship" The Buddha
