Raw Food Courses in Halifax from October 2012

What is Raw Food?

In a nutshell (pardon the pun), raw, living foods have not been processed or cooked above 104°F (40°C). Although food cooked above these temperatures may still contain vitamins and minerals, the digestive enzymes and essential fats within it will have been damaged or destroyed. We need enzymes for vital chemical processes in the body including those providing energy and those aiding digestion. As we are born with a finite number of these enzymes it is important to replenish our stores as they are used up in times of physical and emotional illness and during physical exercise and we can only obtain them from food. In the same way, essential fats can only be obtained from a healthy diet and when ingested in their raw state, their multiple properties are conserved and they help mop up toxins in the body.

I have decided not to provide a fixed recipe list as people have varying preferences and prior knowledge and therefore prefer to personalise the course in relation to the client's individual requirements.

Equipment necessary to prepare these recipes at home: food processor, nut grinder, spiralizer. If you wish to attend this course, I would ask your preferences as to what you would like to learn. Some people, for example, don't have a sweet tooth at all so I would concentrate on savoury recipes.
