Massage Therapy can help you
to experience a deeper state of relaxation than ever felt before. This fusion of
styles incorporates elements of Western and Eastern massage techniques –
including Swedish, Craniosacral, Acupressure, Thai and Reflexology.
Western
works with muscles and soft tissue.
Eastern works with Chi (Qi) or Life Energy.
Deep
Tissue Massage Therapy is used to treat an release older and more long
term patterns of holding tension, that exist in the deeper layers of
muscle tissue. These patterns may have built up over time through
stress, poor posture, injury, trauma etc.. Deep Tissue Massage Therapy
techniques are then required to recover muscle tone and mobility, in
order to let go of tension.
Massage
Therapy is also a healing art. Making contact with a skillful pair of
healing hands; works on a more psychological level, meeting our human
needs to be touched and held, and supported by others. This lighter
healing aspect of Massage Therapy eases and soothes the body, and helps
us to relax deeply.
During a treatment, these techniques are combined according to the clients'
needs and can vary from soft and gentle to soothe and relax, to deep tissue massage which is strong
enough to relieve long term stress-related and postural problems.
Massage can help with conditions like:
| Back Pain |
Postural problems |
| Migraines |
Constipation |
| Stress & Fatigue |
Insomnia |
| Trauma |
Injuries |
| Whiplash |
Joint mobility |
| ............ and many more. |
Today a lot
of time at work is spent in front of a computer, which can cause postural problems
restricting blood flow to the brain. This can bring on symptoms like headaches,
chronic fatigue, neck and shoulder tension and mood swings.
Regular Massage Therapy is a powerful aid to relaxation. Massage
Therapy helps us to slow down, switch off and let go. Massage Therapy
is also simply enjoyable.
What is Qi Gong?
Qi
Gong (Qigong or Chi Kung) is an ancient sophisticated form of
physiotherapy combining slow movement, posture, breathing and
awareness. Qi Gong's gentle but powerful exercises heal the body, and
over time increase flexibility, improve immunity and vitality. At a
deeper level Qi Gong clears blockages from the energy centres and
channels.
Qi Gong complements Massage
Therapy extremely well and helps us to slow down. In Chinese hospitals
Qi Gong is a primary treatment for many serious health conditions.
Hot Stones Massage
Hot
stones were used by the American Indians for massage as part of their
sweat lodge ceremony. Today they are used in healing and remedial
massage. During a treatment the stones are moved over the body in long
strokes to encourage their deep heat to penetrate the body.
The
heat is particularly good for chronic stiffness, fatigue, aches &
pains and mobility problems. The heat increases circulation of blood
and lymph and improves the mechanical ability of the muscles and
connective tissue to elongate and move.
Cold
stones are also used where there is inflammation indicated. The
solidity of the stones, their size and weight help to bring us down to
earth and feel more supported, bringing a deeply relaxing and warming
experience.
